CALL FOR SUBMISSION

The Art of the African Diaspora in Brooklyn
October 28th through December 6th

Deadline for Submission: Monday, September 20th

This show will exhibit paintings, drawings and fine art prints that seek to express and pass on the cultures of the African Diaspora here in Brooklyn, New York.

Even when removed from their home continent, African people brought to the Americas sought to retain their culture through art, whether it was through song, dance or pictorial art, a tradition that continues in Brooklyn as recent immigrants use imagery to keep alive the traditions and cultures of their people, and it is hoped that this exhibition will demonstrate the crucial art/culture connections to be found in Brooklyn.
